Patrick Carman is an American author of The Land of Elyon series and the Atherton series. A graduate of Willamette University with a degree in economics, he became an author after a career as an entrepreneur.

He lives in the wilderness of Walla Walla, Washington, with his wife and two daughters. His daughters' names are Reese and Sierra. His wife's name is Karen. He has been asked to be a part of The 39 Clues series. The 39 Clues is a series that will be written by five different authors (Carman included). The others are Rick Riordan, Gordon Korman, Peter Lerangis, and Jude Watson.[1] Carman will write book 5, according to an official Scholastic press release.
